Boone Hutcheson Cemetery Endowment

Year Founded
2010

Purpose of Fund
The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide income for the charitable purposes of the historic Boone Hutcheson Cemetery, Washington Township, Putnam County, Indiana in perpetuity, as determined by the current board or its designee.

History of Fund
The Boone Hutcheson Cemetery has gravesites dating back to 1812, more than a decade before Putnam County was even organized.  According to an article in the Banner Graphic, “Besides the Boones, Hutchesons, and Risslers, some of the older names in the Boone Hutcheson Cemetery include Halls, McIntoshes, Smiths, Chadwicks, Chews, Lewis, Olivers, Roberts, Rogers, Strobes, Sutherlins, and many others.”  The Board of Directors of the Cemetery established the Endowment to ensure its long-term care and preservation.

History of Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery

Initial contributions to the Endowment were made in memory of Betty Jane France Aker.
