Doc and Dorsey Page Endowment for Fire Safety Training
Year Founded Purpose of Fund History of Fund Alfred "Doc" Page has been a leader in Putnam County since 1969 when he and his wife began teaching advanced first aid and CPR. Over the years, he developed a passion for safeguarding lives by preparing responders to cope with any situation they might encounter. It was through his vision of developing a better way to train firefighters that the idea for a training facility in Putnam County was born. At the age of 77, Alfred P. “Doc” Page III and his wife are still actively doing what they love to do -- helping others in need and teaching people how to help others. Doc is a reserve member of the Greencastle Fire Department and serves as one of the safety officers. On June 12, 2010, the Putnam County Emergency Services Training Grounds was rededicated as the Dr. Alfred Page Emergency Services Training Grounds. Doc and Dorsey Page are very concerned that high level training continue to be provided to Putnam County fire fighters and responders. “Right now, all the equipment at the training facility is brand new,” Doc said. “But it will have to be replaced eventually.” He and his wife, Dorsey, established the Doc and Dorsey Page Endowment for Fire Safety Training as a first step toward ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the Training Grounds. Contributions to the Endowment are welcome and should be made payable to the Putnam County Community Foundation with “Page Fire Safety” in the memo, and mailed to 2 South Jackson Street, Greencastle, Indiana 46135. Community Foundation staff are available to help donors make gifts of cash, stock, retirement assets, life insurance, bequests, real estate and other types of gifts to the Endowment. |
