Mary Allison Children's Fund

Year Founded
2000

Purpose of Fund
The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide income to support underprivileged children in Putnam County, Indiana as identified and recommended by the Board of Directors of the Mary Allison Children's Home Trust, Inc.

History of Fund
Mary Allison Children's Home Trust was established
to support the children of Putnam County in 1896. In 1912, a home was purchased by the Board of Directors which became the home to many children. The home was the visible sign of the work of the Mary Allison Children's Trust until it was sold in 1993, due to a declining number of residents. Since that time, the Trust has had the opportunity to serve an even larger number of Children throughout the county.

The Mary Allison Children's Trust grants $1,000 to each of the nine elementary schools in Putnam County on an annual basis. Among other things, these funds have been used to purchase glasses, medication, school supplies, hearing aids and shoes.

In 2000, the Mary Allison Children's Fund was established at the Putnam County Community Foundation to support the ongoing efforts of the Trust.
