Purpose of Fund
The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide educational financial support for Putnam County 4-H members as suggested by the Putnam County 4-H Council and approved by the Foundation Board of Directors.

History of Fund

Darrel Thomas retired from the Purdue Extension Service after 32 years working in Fountain and Putnam counties. During his career, Thomas was primarily responsible for the 4-H program. Annually, the Putnam County 4-H program reached over 1000 youth ages 10-19. He also served as County Extension Director and was responsible for the education effort coordinated by the Extension office staff.

Active in the community, Thomas served as a member of the Putnam County Council, the President of the Putnam County Leadership Academy, coordinator for the P.I.E. Coalition, and as a member of the Greencastle Park Board. He created the SPARK Program, and is an active member of Rotary, the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, and the People Pathway Board.
