The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide educational financial support to a student(s). 

History of Fund

The Greencastle City Council established the City Council Scholarship Fund in 1994. In 2003 the fund's name was changed to the Michael Rokicki Memorial/City Council Scholarship in memory of Michael Rokicki.  The community lost a friend, a leader, a role model, and a philanthropist in 2003. These are some of the words used to describe Mike: A passion for honesty and truth; concern for his city and its citizens; service above self; and dedication to family, friends, religion, and community. Mike Rokicki's positive impact on the community is immeasurable. His positive impression upon each person who met him -- unfathomable.

A quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson was used in eulogizing Mike: "Success is to laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends. It is to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others and to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden path, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived."
