Purpose of Fund
The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide educational financial support to at least one (1) and no more than five (5) student(s), pursuing a degree in Agriculture at Murray State University. An advisory committee designated by the School of Agriculture at Murray State University will nominate scholarship recipients, and inform the Community Foundation of nominees by April 1 of each year. It is understood that scholarship recipients may not be members or family members of Foundation staff, scholarship selection committees, or the Board of Directors.
History of Fund
The Mary Murphey Nall Agricultural Scholarship was started by Mr. and Mrs. George Murphey of Greencastle, Ind. in honor of his late sister. Murphey and his family were originally from the Graves County, Kentucky area. The Murhpey's have pledged to give $5,000 each year to assist students that will be Graves County or Mayfield High School graduates. The recipients selected must be incoming freshmen or undergraduate students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. The scholarship will be awarded for the first time in 2008-2009.
