Ray H. French Fine Art Scholarship Year Founded 2001 Purpose of Fund The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide income for scholarships to graduates of Greencastle High School who are pursuing further education in fine art or music. History of Fund The family of the late Ray H. French donated a collection of 360 unframed lithographs, the sale of which will establish an endowed scholarship to support the arts. Ray H. French was born in Terre Haute Indiana on May 16, 1919. Professor of art at Depauw University, Professor French served as Head of the Art Department and Curator of the University Art Collection until retirement in 1984. He had 86 solo exhibitions in the United States and Italy, and his work appears in the collections of over 500 museums, galleries and universities in the United States, Europe, Africa, and the Orient.
