Grants Recent Awards
The Community Grants Program
With one dollar, thousands, or millions, anyone may contribute to Putnam County Community Funds. By giving back some of what was received locally, citizens enable the Community Foundation to respond flexibly to changing community needs, to support innovative responses to future problems, and to accomplish local initiatives as they arise.
MORE THAN $1.9 MILLION AWARDED
As of 12-31-10, more than $1.9 million has been awarded for Putnam County charitable projects through the Community Grants Program to enrich the quality of life and strengthen community for this and future generations.
COUNTY-WIDE PERSPECTIVE
Grants are awarded to benefit all towns and areas within Putnam County.
BROAD PHILANTHROPIC INTERESTS
Grants may be awarded in the areas of Animal Welfare, Arts and Culture, Civic & Community, Economic Development, Education, Environment, Health, Human Services, Recreation and Youth.
LOCAL, REPRESENTATIVE DECISION-MAKING
The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation consists of community leaders representing all regions of Putnam County.
GRANT HIGHLIGHT -- THE READING IMPROVEMENT CENTER, INC.
The mission of the Reading Improvement Center, Inc. is to provide suitable and intensive instruction for those whose reading ability hinders their performance in school or work. Currently providing services only in Greencastle, a grant from the Community Foundation, enabled the Center to develop a tutoring package that allows instruction to be offered at more sites throughout the county.
