The Putnam County Community Foundation is a nonprofit public charity established in 1985 to administer funds, award grants and provide leadership, enriching the quality of life and strengthening community in Putnam County. The Community Foundation administers more than 220 funds for donors supporting a variety of charitable activities and has awarded more than $7.7 million dollars in grants and scholarships.

Arrow2012 Nonprofit Learning Series Announced

The Putnam County Community Foundation provides high-quality, low-cost workshops designed to help local non-profit organizations, churches, and units of government move to the next level of community service and leadership.  Called the Nonprofit Learning Series, the curriculum covers topics recommended by workshop attendees.  In addition, scholarships are available to non-profits who apply to receive grant-writing training or individualized consultation

Cost
All eight workshops: $100 if registered and paid by March 5, 2011
One workshop: $25 per person ($15 if registered and paid at least one week in advance)

Trust and participation are closely linked. In this workshop, we will discuss and practice ways to improve trust and methods for managing participation in meetings. This includes getting the silent ones to talk more and the dominant ones to talk less. We will discuss ways to bring the rules of the meeting to a conscious level and to modify them when necessary with commitment from all. We will discuss meeting planning tools for use before as well as during the meeting. We will discuss and practice methods for more accurate recording.

Community Foundation Accepting Community Grant Applications The Putnam County Community Foundation is seeking 501(c)(3) nonprofits, churches and units of government to be partners in serving the local Putnam County community.  Preliminary grant applications are being accepted now and are due February 1st.  They may be picked up at the Foundation office or downloaded at www.pcfoundation.org. Suicide prevention endowment underway - The Putnam County Community Foundation is pleased to announce a new endowment that will support suicide prevention programs in Putnam County. The Endowment is a field of interest fund, but asks that the Community Foundation involve an approved student organization at DePauw University in deciding the best use of grants from the endowment. Preference will be given to projects that train leaders to identify symptoms of suicide and to prevent suicide. For entire press release click HERE.

Community Foundation Awards More Than $82,000 at Fall Grants Award Breakfast - An early morning crowd Friday celebrated the Putnam County Community Foundation's 2011 fall grant awards in the Community Room of Area 30 Career Center, where it was announced that $82,380 was awarded from the Community Foundation's unrestricted endowments. Family Endowment Honors the Contributions of Myrtle Gass  - The Putnam County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the family of Myrtle Gass has established a new endowment for the benefit of Johnson Nichols Health Clinic.  The Endowment will provide unrestricted financial support to the Johnson Nichols Health Clinic, or to a successor organization providing health services to Putnam County citizens who lack access to health care.
